Description
Shona Sandison was on her way to a dear friend’s wedding. The wedding was to serve as a welcome distraction from her waning career as a journalist. Within a short time frame, a wedding guest takes a suicidal swan dive in front of Shona, forcing the postponing of the wedding and putting Shona in the thick of a news story. Shona is shaken by the man’s death along with peculiar writing that adorned his body.
As Shona begins to investigate the decedent and his past, various friends of the victim begin to learn of his untimely passing. One of the man’s friends is an ambitious member of Parliament intent on ascending to the heights of government. There are secrets the MP would rather remain buried and he will pull out all the stops to ensure silence. Shona’s job will only become more difficult as she attempts to ascertain the truth.
The Hollow Tree is the latest engrossing mystery from author Philip Miller (The Goldenacre). Shona Sandison is a protagonist who despite being hobbled by her past and the worries of the present is dauntless in her pursuit of answers. Miller has written a terrific thriller full of complex characters and dramatic twists and turns.
