Description
The main character of this book is a charwoman at an art museum. She is overly romantic in her dreaming, perhaps or because of her prosaic life. She was swept off her feet at a young age and left as a single mother without any marketable skills. She is grateful for the job of learning how to clean properly to the exacting standards of her tenured co-worker. As a young girl, she won a prize for a story about escaping into a painting and becoming a part of it. As she dreamily gazes at the art on her floor, she is increasingly drawn into it. She notices a young man in a family portrait of The Music Lesson. As she watches him, he is also watching her and noticing her beauty as she dusts the picture frames. He, also, feels trapped inside his life inside his father’s painting. One lives in a permanent posture and the girl moves through her life, trapped into her responsibilities. A lovely fantasy ensues—or is it?
