Description

Three lives converge in New York City: a singer with no family who hitchhiked her way to the city, a street dancer who just wants to be free, and a painter who shifted from landscape to nudes. These bohemians help feed off each other, helping, encouraging, and inspiring. As they achieve their goals, the question remains: What does it mean to be successful?

Naked City: A Graphic Novel is the third book in The City Trilogy by Eric Drooker. Even though this book is part of a series, the dialogue and artwork tell a story all its own. There is no need to read the first two books. Known for his artwork frequently gracing the cover of the New Yorker, Drooker’s graphic novel tells a touching story about following one’s dreams and wanting to be loved. The dialogue gives us a glimpse into the three artist’s lives. Through Drooker’s illustrations, we get the full picture. The artwork is amazingly beautiful and tragic. As good as the story is, the illustrations complete it. The ending of this book could not be more touching. Sans dialogue, Drooker lets the images complete the story
