Description
Similar to an Agatha Christie locked room mystery, but taking place on an airplane 30,000 feet in the sky, this mystery unfolds slowly and requires the reader to suspend their beliefs for a while to make the ride thoroughly enjoyable. Crestwood High School baseball is traveling to Puerto Rico to participate in a tournament, and grieving mother Francesca Kessler joins the group as a chaperone. The other adults with the team are worried about her presence because three years ago, her son, also on the baseball team, was killed by a hit-and-run driver. She has been trying to find the truth of what happened, even if that means someone else has to die.
One of the issues with this work is that it is packing a lot of backstory and characters, and we must learn all of their backstory, which kind of makes the book a bit bloated. It would have been better if it were more focused. Along with a cast of oddball characters, including an Air Marshal, a corrupt co-pilot, and lightning that is timed perfectly, this ride is enjoyable at times but takes a while to take off and has a slightly screwy ending.
