Carrie Dunn is a full-time freelance journalist, writing about sports, culture and anything else that interests her.
[mpc_textblock content_width=”100″ font_preset=”preset_1″ font_color=”#333333″ font_transform=”none” font_align=”left” mpc_tooltip__disable=”true” animation_in_type=”transition.shrinkIn” animation_in_offset=”90″ animation_in_duration=”600″ animation_in_delay=”0″]Carrie Dunn has several years of experience in various media spheres, including production services and press offices.

Her major passion is sport – she writes for leading UK newspapers and websites (including the Times, the Guardian, the New Statesman and Eurosport).

She has covered events from the Ashes to the Olympics, and her most recent book The Roar of the Lionesses chronicles women’s football in England following the national team’s bronze medal at the 2015 Women’s World Cup.

During the 2014 World Cup, she was part of a quartet of bloggers for Kick It Out, the anti-discrimination organisation. As a long-suffering Luton Town fan, she wrote A Brand New Bright Tomorrow – a Hatter’s Promotion Diary as an account of the team’s successful 2001-02 season.

She is the author of Spandex, Screw Jobs and Cheap Pops: Inside the Business of British Pro Wrestling, and is the founding editor of the popular UK pro wrestling website The Only Way Is Suplex.

Collaborating with her grandfather, a World War II veteran, she ghostwrote From The Valleys To Verulamium: Memoirs of a Soldier’s Life, published by The History Press in December 2011.

She has a PhD in sociology, and combines her research into women’s sport and women’s experience of sport with teaching at several UK universities. This hands-on experience in academia, along with her service as a school governor and a Guider, means that she’s also interested in education and careers issues.

She’s currently available for freelance commissions, whether it’s on-site reporting, feature-writing or corporate work. She’s also always happy to hear from any university department looking for a visiting lecturer in journalism, media or research methods.[/mpc_textblock]
