Wildly into the Dark

Poet Tyler Knott Gregson has become a bestselling author on and off. Wildly into the Dark: Typewriter Poems and the Rattlings of a Curious Mind is the author’s third book. He seems to have hauled out an old typewriter and at times even older, yellowed paper upon which to type, put the paper in the roller and just started typing, keeping strike-overs and run-together words there, uncorrected, but that’s part of the charm.

“This is for the chasers of the light.”

One poem looks like it was typed on a plane ticket; another has “textbook” stamped upon it. Some have signatures and addresses. The author admits to trusting his gut in the choosing of the contents and that our society tends to put “perfection on a pedestal.” Sometimes even the titles are upside-down on the bottom of the page.
